Correspondence
Jemima Bleek's letter to her sisters Fanny and Lucy Lloyd, dated 20 July 1869 from Berlin. Jemima and Wilhelm have travelled to Berlin where Julia Lloyd is very ill. Jemima gives her sisters a "resume" of what has occurred since she last wrote, describing "July's" condition and their stay in Berlin while she convalesces. Jemima also describes their travel to Berlin from Bonn by train, which resulted in her becoming ill. In addition to consultations with Julia's doctor, Jemima describes the people they have met in Berlin in between visiting Julia: in particular, Wilhelm's aunts and uncles, who assisted them with advice, childcare and accommodation. Jemima thinks warmly of her loved ones at home, sends love to all and thanks Fan and Loui for their efforts with her dead child's grave.
