Summary

Jemima Bleek's letter to her sisters Fanny and Lucy Lloyd, dated 21 August 1869 from Bonn. Jemima has received her sisters' letters and responds to their news of Lucy's "terrible pain" from her nervous condition. The main body of the letter concerns her getting "full permission" (and advice) to journey to the Cape before her confinement from a trusted Bonn doctor she consulted. Jemima explains the doctor's concerns over her wintering in Europe as well as her ability to nurse a baby on a voyage, and she alludes to discussing her dead child Ernst with him. Wilhelm takes over her letter when she retires with a sore throat.
