Correspondence
A letter from Wilhelm Bleek to Lucy Lloyd, from Cape Town and dated 10 September, 1863. Wilhelm informs Lucy (again) of the birth of his and Jemima's first child, Edith, and provides details of the health and appearance of the baby as well as Jemima's recovery. Wilhelm is sorry to hear of Lucy's poor health and over-exertion after paying for Willie's school. Wilhelm fears he and Jemima were not clear about their intention to pay for it and wants to refund what they owe her. He sends a cheque for any other expenses that may arise. Wilhelm refers to Lucy's disagreeable business with a Mr Rivett. He also asks Lucy not to burden herself making the little ones' clothing, driven by her over-high standards. He describes many letters received and answered and the love and good wishes to be transmitted.
