Correspondence
A letter from Wilhelm Bleek to Lucy Lloyd, written on board the Roman and dated 24 April, 1869. Wilhelm, Jemima, her sister Julia and baby Edith are bound for England and then Germany. Wilhelm describes their voyage so far, including their seasickness, the passengers (not all of them congenial) and the Captain, as well as conditions and some adventures aboard. He advises Lucy to draw money from his Cape Town funds if needed and gives instructions regarding little Ernst's grave. He asks Lucy to inform him about bills to be paid (but not to pay them) and to give a copy of his Comparative Grammar to the SA Public Library.
