The war will soon end if the warring parties remain confined to Germany, Italy, and Austria. Should other states intervene, peace becomes more remote. The House of Hapsburg now practice the same poor governance as the Ottomans, and the Turkish question will soon succeed the German question. What happens to parts of the former empire should not incite a European war involving the great powers. He revisits past conflict concerning the Turkish question and the resulting disagreement over the sovereignty of the (tributary) Danubian Principalities. The principalities controversially united as 'Rumenians' under Colonel Couza (Cuza) but were transferred amid trilateral opposition to Charles of Hohenzollern's appointment as Hospodar after Couza's malfeasance.
