Interior pages of Methuen & Co. Ltd.'s flyer promoting George William Stow's posthumous 'Rock-paintings in South Africa...' (1930). The interior spread is a preview from the final publication. The book showcases Stow's rock art copies from sites in the Eastern Province and Orange Free State with an introduction and descriptive notes by Dorothea Bleek. The publication, limited to 500 copies, includes 72 plates (reproduced from coloured collotype plates [6' x 9¼']) and a map. The flyer's halftone 'specimen illustration' is Stow's controversial 'blue ostriches'.
